What Makes Platte Woods Homes Different

Platte Woods is one of the smaller communities we serve, and it has a story worth knowing. Developer Ernest C. Thompson platted it in the 1930s as the self-styled "Garden Spot of Platte County," an exclusive residential area of full-acre and larger wooded lots, and he even named the roads himself, from Red Haw to Tomahawk Lane to Arbor Creek. The city chartered in 1938, became a village in 1946, and grew into a Fourth Class City in 1954.
